The Winged Victory of Samothrace, also called the Nike of Samothrace, is a marble Hellenistic statue of Nike (the Greek goddess of victory), that was created circa the 2nd-century BC. Since 1884, it has been prominently displayed at the Louvre and is one of the most celebrated sculptures in the world.
Over the years many reconstructions have been attempted of the famous Nike of Samothrace. Not only the head and arms of the goddess are missing, but also the feet, while the right wing is a mirror-image casts in plaster from the left wing. As such, the present state of the statue still leaves much to the imagination.
And now we come to one of the two most famous Ancient Greek sculptures of the whole world, one of the few surviving, original Hellenistic statues, not a Roman copy, (The other one being the Venus di Milo), the Winged Victory of Samothrace, or Nike of Samothrace, Nike; Greek goddess of victory.

A reduction of the famous sculpture. Found on the island of Samothrace in 1863, this statue is a personification of Victory, or Nike in Greek. It is believed the statue was meant to commemorate a Rhodian naval victory, such as that of Myonnisos or the one over Antiochus III of Syria early in the second century B.C.E.
